How to play

Everything needed to begin a run, direct a warp, use the weapon, understand the scoring system, and save a place on the leaderboard.

The objective

Snake 3D: WarpStrike takes place on a 20×20 arena. Guide the snake to red energy orbs, which add one point and one body segment. Your run continues until the snake collides with a wall, an obstacle, its own body, or a hostile enemy ship.

The basic goal is a high score, but strong runs also record elapsed time, enemy kills and completed warps. Those extra statistics help rank players whose point totals are equal.

Quick rule: survival comes first. A red orb is never worth entering a square from which you cannot escape.

Starting and ending a run

On desktop, press the Space bar or use the on-screen start control. On a touch device, use the controls shown beneath the arena. The snake begins moving immediately, so decide your first route before starting.

When a run ends, a qualifying score can be saved with a display name and country flag. No account or email address is required. Use a nickname rather than personal contact information.

Phone and tablet controls

Touch devices display a directional pad for steering, a separate joystick for selecting a warp exit, and a fire control when a weapon is available. These controls are placed around the board and adapt to portrait or landscape orientation.

For reliable steering, tap deliberately before the next grid step. The game accepts a queued turn, but repeatedly sliding across several directions can request a different turn from the one intended.

Black holes and directed exits

Active black holes appear as linked pairs. Enter one and the snake emerges from its partner. Warping itself does not add points, but the run records the number of successful warps.

Before entering, hold a safe direction with the warp controls. If no direction is supplied, the game selects an automatic exit. The best players treat portals as planned routes, not last-second guesses.

Missiles and enemy routes can interact with portals too, so the space around both ends of a pair deserves attention.

Weapons and enemies

The weapon becomes available during a qualifying run. Collecting it grants six shots. After the weapon has been acquired, each collected red orb restores two shots, up to the six-shot maximum.

Enemy ships begin appearing as the score increases. Destroying a settled enemy awards five points. Destroying it while it is still travelling to its selected cell awards seven points. Missing carelessly can be costly: hitting a red orb subtracts one point, and hitting the snake’s own green body subtracts two.

Leaderboard records

The records panel can show all-time, daily, weekly and monthly results. Ranking is determined by points first, followed by shorter elapsed time, enemy kills, warps and then the earliest achievement.

When a score is submitted, the game stores the run statistics and the chosen display name and flag. Coarse device and browser information is also collected for internal compatibility work, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
